A Minneapolis man accused of opening fire in Kandiyohi County during a multi-county pursuit last fall has pleaded guilty to murder and related charges under a Norgaard plea.

A now 17-year-old from Saint Paul who admitted to his role in a deadly drug robbery in Ramsey earlier this year will avoid prison time.

Police said staff locked doors to the church before Mass began, which likely prevented a worse outcome, and that the shooter tried to barricade one doorway from the outside. Officials said the guns used were purchased legally.

The incident began just after 11 a.m. when Saint Paul police located a motorcycle connected to the man outside a residence on the 1200 block of Ottawa Avenue.

Police say the shooting began shortly after 8:15 a.m. while students from the adjacent Annunciation School, which serves kindergarten through eighth grade, were gathered for their weekly Wednesday service.

According to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, officers from the First Precinct responded at 2:08 a.m. to reports of gunfire on the 800 block of Hennepin Avenue.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. after ShotSpotter detected about 30 rounds fired near 29th Street East and Clinton Avenue.

Police said officers were called around 8:30 p.m. to the area of York Avenue East and Greenbrier Street where gunfire had been reported.

Dameon Markese Collins, 24, pleaded guilty in June 2025 to second-degree intentional murder and admitted to firing 23 shots at Woodard on June 28, 2024.

Three people were injured Friday after two related shooting calls in Minneapolis, according to police. The three victims were all transported to the hospital and expected to survive their injuries.

Prosecutors charged 30-year-old Dwight Dominique Campbell with four counts, including drive-by shooting toward a person and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
