Columbia Heights Police Investigate Early Morning Homicide
A man was found dead inside a vehicle early Friday after police responded to reports of gunfire in Columbia Heights.
Officers were called to the 500 block of 38th Avenue NE around 6:30 a.m., where they discovered an adult male who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area remained taped off through the morning as investigators collected evidence and documented the scene.
Police confirmed the death is being treated as a homicide but have not released the victim’s name, pending notification of family. Authorities have not said whether they believe the shooting was targeted or random, and no arrests had been made as of late Friday afternoon.

Detectives with the Columbia Heights Police Department are leading the investigation, with assistance from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials said an autopsy will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
