In a statement released this morning, BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said the FBI formally notified the BCA on Feb. 13 that it will not provide access to information or evidence.

The announcement came Thursday morning during a news conference in which the federal administration’s “border Czar” Tom Homan said a “significant draw-down” is already underway and will continue into next week.

Authorities say the Otter Tail County political candidate first reported a series of threatening phone calls and text messages received the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Prosecutors say he submitted the document in court proceedings tied to charges from a July 2025 crash and was made to appear as if it came from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in an effort to challenge toxicology evidence.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Nicollet Avenue & East 26th Street, where witnesses reported seeing federal agents struggling with a man before shots were fired.
