A 60-year-old Eagan man is accused of firing a handgun inside his bedroom and telling his partner she was lucky he didn't shoot her.

Prosecutors charged Darlington Darcious Taye, 23, of Saint Paul, with reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality, a felony punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The incident unfolded Feb. 18 in the area of Lowry Avenue North and Girard Avenue North after a ShotSpotter system detected three separate gunshot activations within about 15 minutes.

Officers arriving at the scene located two people entering a building and detained them without incident. Authorities say a firearm was recovered from one of the people during the investigation.

The incident was reported around 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 1 in the 4800 block of Quail Avenue North after dispatchers got several 911 calls from people in the area who heard gunshots.

When officers arrived, they determined that a specific home had been targeted and found evidence that multiple rounds had been fired into the house.

Prosecutors allege the pair coordinated movements, communications and vehicles in the moments leading up to the gunfire.

Inside the home, officers found a 27-year-old man unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers attempted lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prosecutors have charged 25-year-old Trashaun Nij Morris with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm or ammunition and with recklessly discharging a firearm within a municipality.

According to a SPPD spokesperson, officers were called to the 1300 block of Westminster Street just after 8:20 a.m. on Dec. 21 for a report of shots fired.

Metro Transit Police said officers were dispatched shortly before 3:30 p.m. to a reported shooting involving a northbound METRO C Line bus near 36th Avenue North and Penn Avenue North.

Brandon Deshone Johnson, 27, is charged in Ramsey County with second-degree riot while armed with a dangerous weapon, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison or a $10,000 fine or both.
