A young man was found shot to death near the Midtown Greenway in south Minneapolis on Wednesday night and police say two possible suspects were seen leaving the area.

Officers were called around 8:40 p.m. on October 7 to a report of a person shot near the Greenway in the area of Stevens Avenue South and East Lake Street, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. They found a man on the ground with an apparent fatal gunshot wound.

Preliminary information indicates two males were seen leaving the area, police said, though no further information has been released.

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area, with MPD forensic scientists processing the scene. Homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.

No arrests have been made and the man who died has not yet been identified.
