Troopers say the driver struck the pedestrian along a stretch of the highway located outside of the city limits of Mahnomen, in an area where Highway 59 is a two-lane road.

A 7-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle on Saint Paul’s East Side, according to police.

Mohamed Mukhtar Abdi, 39, is charged with one count of criminal vehicular operation resulting in great bodily harm and another count of criminal vehicular operation causing substantial bodily harm, both through gross negligence.

Officials say 42-year-old Christopher Brown, of Clear Lake, was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson southbound when a deer entered the roadway and collided with his motorcycle. The impact caused Brown to lose control and crash.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, traffic had slowed in the southbound lanes as an unknown vehicle waited to turn left onto Gibbs Park Road.

Cory Shawn Olson, 40, of Cambridge, entered the intersection from Wildlife Road without stopping at the posted sign and crashed into another pickup, the State Patrol says.
