28-year-old Seth John Nechville, of Kenyon, Minn., was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram northbound in the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2019 GMC Terrain, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities say the driver of the Terrain, 68-year-old Peter Foxvong Olson, of Apple Valley, was headed south and in the proper lane when he was struck by Nechville.

Nechville was airlifted to Regions Hospital with injuries the patrol described as not life-threatening and an incident report says that alcohol was detected, though troopers have not yet released more information like his preliminary blood alcohol content.

The State Patrol confirmed that both the driver of the Terrain and his passenger, 49-year-old Patricia Ann Olson, also from Apple Valley, died at the scene. Both were wearing their seat belts.

Randolph Fire, Cannon Falls EMS, Dakota County deputies, Goodhue County deputies and Life Link assisted state troopers and the road was closed for several hours while reconstruction was underway.

The State Patrol continues to investigate and more information on possible charges is expected soon.

Nechville has a history of alcohol-related driving offenses including two convictions for 3rd-degree DWI: in 2019 and in 2023. He received probation for the latest case and his term ended about six months before the fatal Randolph Township crash.
