‘No Survivors’ After Chopper Crash Near Lakeville Airport

Officials say there were no survivors after a helicopter crashed Saturday afternoon in Lakeville near the Airlake Airport.
Officers were called to the area west of the airport around 2:45 p.m. and located the wreckage west of Highview Avenue, near 219th Street West, the Lakeville Police Department said.

Initial information says a 2023 Robinson R66 helicopter went down in a field and caught fire, according to radio reports. Responding officers and firefighters determined that no one on board survived.
aAuthorities have not said how many people were on the aircraft at the time of the crash. The site was described as being in a non-residential, non-commercial area and police confirmed there were no people impacted beyond those on the helicopter.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and will lead the investigation. Officials said information about the cause of the crash, the number of occupants and other details will be released following the agencies’ preliminary findings.
The identities of the deceased will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
