Man on Scooter Critically Hurt in Northeast Minneapolis Crash

A man riding an electric scooter was critically injured in a crash with a van in northeast Minneapolis Saturday evening.
Minneapolis police said the collision happened around 6:35 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway Street Northeast and Marshall Street Northeast.

Responding officers found the man on the ground with apparent life-threatening injuries, and he was taken by EMS to Hennepin Healthcare.
According to initial information from police, a silver Honda Odyssey was traveling east on Broadway Street Northeast as it approached Marshall Street Northeast.
The man on the scooter was also traveling east on Broadway Street Northeast. Both entered the intersection as the traffic light was turning yellow, and the scooter turned left. Investigators say the Honda struck the scooter during that turn.

Police said the Honda’s driver called 911, stayed at the scene, and cooperated with officers. Traffic investigators and forensic scientists responded to document and process the crash site.
Authorities said impairment is not believed to be a factor. No arrests have been made and no citations have been issued.
