A St. Paul substitute teacher has been charged with a felony after allegedly engaging in repeated sexual misconduct with a student over the course of nearly a year.

Police say an adult male was injured following a shooting early this morning on St. Paul's East Side.

Authorities said the fleeing suspect, 28-year-old Lorenzo Leontay Washington, of Minneapolis, was driving a 2023 Toyota Camry and had an active warrant for parole violation.

A Minnesota State Patrol trooper first attempted to stop the suspect vehicle near I-94 and Marion Street at 11:18 p.m., though the reason for the stop remains unclear.

Initial reports suggest the power line fell after a driver struck an electrical transformer and fled the scene. Firefighters conducted searches on all floors of the building to confirm that everyone had safely evacuated.

Preliminary information suggests the shooting occurred on a westbound Green Line train as it approached the Hamline Avenue station.

Oscar Lee Covington, 42, of Brooklyn Park, was shot in the abdomen on Oct. 30 in the 800 block of Rice Street. Officers responded to the scene around 5:45 p.m. and found Covington critically injured.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Aurora Avenue just before 1:40 p.m. after several 911 callers reported hearing gunfire, with some estimating as many as 20 shots.

Saint Paul police officers fatally shot a homicide suspect Saturday afternoon after an anonymous tip led them to his location.

Police responded to the incident around 6:15 p.m. Nov. 3 at Redeemer Arms on Dale Street, where they found the victim, a 70-year-old resident, lying unresponsive in the hallway outside his unit.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Front Avenue after a man reported he had been assaulted in his vehicle. The man claimed he fired his gun at the alleged attacker during the altercation and believed he may have injured him.

At around 6:15 p.m., Saint Paul police officers responded to an assault report at the complex. When they arrived, officers were directed to a hallway in the apartment where they found an adult male victim suffering from puncture injuries to his torso.
