A teenage girl told Faribault police she was sexually assaulted multiple times by a family friend who threatened to harm the victim if she spoke out.
Ahmednoor Ismail Ali, 23, of Faribault, is charged with criminal sexual conduct in the 2nd degree for having sexual contact with the victim when she was under 14, according to a complaint filed Wednesday, June 17, in Rice County District Court.
According to the complaint, the victim, now 15, reported to police on March 4 that she wanted to disclose four prior sexual assaults committed by Ali. She explained that Ali was a family friend who often spent time at her home in Faribault, especially during the COVID lockdown, when her family was struggling and Ali would help out and sometimes stay overnight.

The victim described one assault that occurred when she was 12 years old and her family was living in Faribault. She told police that during this period, while the victim was hospitalized in the victim with COVID, Ali entered her room while she was holding her baby brother. The victim said Ali grabbed her chest and tried to pull her pants down. She managed to get away and ran from the room. She also reported that Ali pulled down his own pants during the assault.
The victim told investigators that Ali threatened to hurt the victim if she told anyone about the assaults, which made her afraid to come forward at the time. She said she could not remember the exact dates of each assault but recalled the houses where they occurred and her age during each incident. The complaint notes that three of the assaults happened when Ali was under 18, and one occurred after he turned 18.
Court records state that Ali is 90 months older than the victim. All of the reported assaults took place in Faribault.
The charge of criminal sexual conduct in the 2nd degree alleges that Ali engaged in sexual contact with the victim when she was under 14 and that he was more than three years older than her.
A court date has not yet been set.

Minnesota’s criminal sexual conduct statutes are organized by degree under § 609.342 (first), § 609.343 (second), § 609.344 (third) and § 609.345 (fourth). First-degree convictions carry up to 30 years in prison; the lower degrees carry penalties up to 25, 15 and 10 years respectively. Cases involving minors trigger additional mandatory-minimum provisions and predatory-offender registration under § 243.166.
