A Saint Paul man accused of opening fire on a Ramsey County deputy during a pursuit earlier this year has pleaded guilty to first-degree assault involving the use of deadly force against a peace officer.
Officers were called to the Shamrock Plaza strip mall at 289 McKnight Rd. S. shortly after 5:25 p.m. on April 20, after a 911 caller reported that two people inside a parked vehicle appeared to be unresponsive.
Fire crews were dispatched just before 5:30 p.m. to the 500 block of Farrington Street after getting reports of fire coming from the church. While en route, firefighters reported seeing tall flames shooting from the building’s steeple.
The vehicle’s owner told officers that someone had stolen her jacket—containing the key to her 2021 Honda CR-V—while she played pickleball. When she returned to the lot, the vehicle was gone.
According to initial information, Saint Paul officers were dispatched just after 12:40 a.m. on Monday to Cheers Pub at 1067 Hudson Road for multiple 911 callers reporting gunfire.
Joshua Paul Armbrust, 44, admitted to one count of computer fraud tied to a months-long “cryptojacking” scheme carried out against Digital River, a Minnetonka-based company.
