Five people are dead after a head-on collision between an SUV and a transit van carrying 13 members of the same family in southwestern Minnesota. The crash happened around 4:45 p.

According to the criminal complaints, a Minnesota State Patrol trooper was briefed on Jan. 8 by officers conducting surveillance on a man who investigators say had just engaged in a suspected drug transaction involving a Toyota Camry.

Initial information says the driver of a 2015 Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound and the driver of a 2023 Freightliner semi was traveling westbound when they collided.

Just before 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 9, the collision occurred on the ramp from southbound I-35W to Cliff Road. State Patrol said a semi driver heading southbound took the ramp and struck a pedestrian and a vehicle that were in the roadway.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was identified as Lao Vang, 24, of Hugo. The State Patrol said he was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of DWI and criminal vehicular operation.

State Patrol officials said a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze went off the road and came to a stop in the median. The 66-year-old Forest Lake man driving the Cruze got out and walked into the northbound lanes.

According to court records, 42-year-old Jeremy Francis Plonski pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis to one count each of production and distribution of child pornography.

Around 11:15 p.m. on July 25, State Capitol security officers contacted the Minnesota State Patrol about a man they located naked inside the Capitol’s Senate chamber.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle hit the parked squad car at highway speeds, spinning it roughly 75 feet from the point of impact.

Authorities said the semi was carrying ammunition and a HAZMAT team was called to assist with the spill. Officials have not said what specific type of ammunition was involved.

Jeremy F. Plonski, of Shakopee, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving penetration of a child under 14 years old.

Jeremy Francis Plonski was arrested and remains in federal custody after a criminal complaint was filed in U.S. District Court. The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison.
