Man Dies After Walking Into Traffic on I-35E in Lino Lakes

A man died Sunday evening in Lino Lakes after he got out of his car on Interstate 35E, walked into traffic and was struck by another driver.

According to the State Patrol, the crash was reported at 5:28 p.m. on northbound I-35E just north of County Road J.

State Patrol officials said a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze went off the road and came to a stop in the median. The 66-year-old Forest Lake man driving the Cruze got out and walked into the northbound lanes where he was hit by the driver of a 2009 Honda CR-V.

Authorities say he died at the scene and his identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the Honda, a 26-year-old man, was not hurt. He was wearing a seat belt and did not show signs of impairment.

Lino Lakes police and Allina EMS assisted at the scene as northbound lanes were closed while responders investigated the crash.
