Trooper Injured After Driver Hits Squad in St. Louis County

 

A Minnesota State Trooper had minor injuries Monday when a driver struck his marked squad car while he was assisting with traffic control on Highway 53 near Swan Lake Road in St. Louis County.

The crash happened around 11:10 a.m. on July 28 as the trooper was temporarily stopping traffic with emergency lights activated.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle hit the parked squad car at highway speeds, spinning it roughly 75 feet from the point of impact.

Both the trooper and the other driver sustained minor injuries. The driver who struck the squad was cited for failing to obey an emergency vehicle and taken for a medical evaluation.
