The Minnesota State Patrol says the man was struck while another vehicle was attempting to avoid a stalled car on southbound Highway 169 near Old Brickyard Road in Jackson Township.

The suspect was taken into custody after investigators noted signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.

The driver of a 2023 Ford pickup truck, 47-year-old Grant Ira Crawford, of Jasper, was killed in the collision. Authorities confirmed he was wearing a seat belt.

The van’s driver, identified as 38-year-old Kyle Adam Hoctor, of Eagan, told police he had just completed a delivery and was attempting a left turn followed by a U-turn when the crash occurred.
