Dump Truck Driver Dies in Winona Crash

 

A man died Monday evening after crashing a dump truck off a highway in Winona.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 14 and Gilmore Valley Road.

Initial information indicates the 2023 Freightliner straight truck was traveling north on Gilmore Valley Road when it crossed both directions of Highway 14, entered the ditch and rolled onto its side.

The driver, a 68-year-old man from Fountain City, Wisconsin, was the only person in the vehicle and died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

Winona Police, Fire and Ambulance responded to the crash along with the State Patrol. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the incident.

The investigation into what caused the crash remains ongoing.
