Highway 65 Crash Leaves Woman Dead in East Bethel

A woman died Friday morning in East Bethel after a pickup truck rear-ended her SUV along a busy stretch of Highway 65.

The crash caused her vehicle to veer into a ditch and flip over, authorities say.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. near Minnesota State Highway 65 NE and Sims Road NE. According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, an adult male was driving a pickup truck southbound on the highway when it struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle driven by an adult woman.

The SUV left the roadway following the impact, entered the ditch and rolled over. First responders from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, East Bethel Fire Department and Allina EMS arrived shortly after the crash and located the woman deceased at the scene.

The man driving the pickup was evaluated by paramedics at the scene, but did not require transport from the scene.

Officials have not said whether speed, distraction or other factors may have played a role, and no citations or arrests have been announced.

As of publication, authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
