Speed, Alcohol Suspected in St. Louis County ATV Crash

 

A 41-year-old man from Mountain Iron was airlifted with life-threatening injuries Saturday afternoon after crashing an ATV in St. Louis County.

Deputies with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 3:30 p.m. to the 4800 block of Voss Road in Mountain Iron after a caller reported an ATV crash.

According to initial information, the man had been driving the ATV at a high rate of speed when he attempted to turn into a driveway. The vehicle overturned and the man was thrown from it.

Emergency personnel found the man unresponsive and began medical treatment before he was flown by helicopter to a hospital. Authorities say alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor.

The man’s name has not yet been released.
