Woman Dies in Andover Crash, Driver Arrested After Fleeing Scene
A 74-year-old woman died in a crash Friday evening in Andover, with the man accused of causing it later arrested after fleeing the scene.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. near 165th Avenue NW and 7th Avenue NW.
Initial information indicates 48-year-old Aloysius Kenneth Johnson, of Andover, was driving a pickup westbound on 165th Avenue when he struck an SUV that was traveling south at the intersection.
UPDATE: Formal charges have been filed
The driver of the SUV, 74-year-old Alice Marie Stack, of Andover, was transported to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
Johnson reportedly ran from the scene after the crash. He was located and taken into custody a short time later, then booked into the Anoka County Jail pending formal charges.
Agencies responding included the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Anoka Police Department, Andover Fire Department and Allina EMS. The Minnesota State Patrol and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
