A 77-year-old St. Peter woman died after a crash at a rural Nicollet County intersection Friday afternoon, and the State Patrol says the other driver did not stop at a stop sign.

The crash happened around 1:20 p.m. on October 2 at Highway 22 and Nicollet County Road 3 in New Sweden Township, according to an incident report.

Margo Ann Brown was driving a Honda Pilot east on Highway 22 when the driver of a Cadillac Escalade heading south on County Road 3 did not stop at the stop sign, and the two collided in the intersection, the report says.

Brown was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis and died of her injuries. She was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash.

The driver of the Escalade, a 74-year-old Nicollet woman, was taken to a Mayo hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was also belted and alcohol was not suspected.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Allina EMS, Mayo and the Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted the State Patrol.
