A Minneapolis man stabbed a woman multiple times with scissors while threatening to kill her during a violent confrontation in her bedroom, according to charges.
Darrell Allan Vilas, 44, faces a charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon causing substantial bodily harm.
According to the complaint, Minneapolis police responded to a stabbing at a residence in Minneapolis on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Officers arrived to find blood leading into the home and made contact with the victim, who reported that Vilas had stabbed her. The victim told police she was sleeping when Vilas entered her room and punched her in the face, startling her awake. Two children entered the room, and Vilas punched one of them in the face before locking the bedroom door.

The victim said Vilas then stabbed her with a pair of scissors, telling her, “B****, I’ll kill you,” and continued to stab her multiple times. The victim was transported to the hospital for her injuries.
At the scene, officers spoke with a witness who said Vilas came into the room and stabbed the victim. The witness reported that the victim tried to defend herself to prevent further stabbing. Before leaving, Vilas allegedly threatened, “B****, I’ll kill both of you if you call the cops.”
Investigators later reviewed the victim’s medical records, which confirmed she suffered multiple lacerations that required sutures.
The complaint notes that Vilas has a pending charge for felony strangulation and felony threats of violence involving the same victim. The complaint also says Vilas had a warrant out for failing to appear at a hearing in a separate case.
The charge was filed Tuesday, September 29, in Hennepin County District Court.
