Investigators say alcohol was a factor in a crash that killed one person and critically injured another Thursday night in Columbia Heights. Emergency crews were called around 10:30 p.m. to a report of a crash near Highway 65 and 39th Ave. NE. in Columbia Heights. The State Patrol says 35-year-old Cody John Jazdzewski, of Minneapolis, drover a 1998 BMW off the roadway and onto the sidewalk, striking two pedestrians before the vehicle came to rest near a tree line.

Husband Arrested After Woman Found Dead Along Roadway

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office says deputies have arrested the husband of a woman who was found dead along a roadway in Fort Ripley Township last month. Authorities say a passerby called police on June 25, reporting they thought there may have been a body lying just off the roadway near the intersection of Legend Lane & Killian Road in Fort Ripley Township. Authorities arrived and confirmed the woman was deceased.

Troy Michael Mitteness, 56, of Burnsville, is charged with 2nd-degree murder in the death of his mother, Sandra Viola Mitteness. The charges come after detectives began investigating reports of mail theft in June, which led authorities to a murder confession.

Man in Custody After Woman Fatally Struck in Wyoming Gas Station Lot

Officers were dispatched around 10:25 p.m. Thursday, June 22 for the report of a pedestrian struck by a driver who fled the scene after a domestic disturbance. The suspect vehicle was reported to be a white GMC pickup and officers quickly established suspect information.
