Two Plane Incidents in Anoka County Saturday

Two pilots were able to escape serious injury after separate aircraft incidents Saturday in Anoka County.

The first incident happened in Blaine around 2 p.m. when a pilot flying a Cessna 172 aircraft began experiencing low oil pressure. The pilot’s destination was Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, but diverted to the Anoka County Airport in Blaine after the emergency. The pilot determined that they would not be able to safely make it to the airport and landed on the roadway near 125th Avenue Northeast near Central Avenue Northeast.

The second incident occurred around 8 p.m. in Lino Lakes when an experimental aircraft made a crash landing in a holding pond near I-35E and Main Street. The cause of the crash has not been determined yet, but the pilot and only occupant was able to swim to shore after the crash.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
