A Columbia Heights man is charged with second-degree murder after investigators say he killed his 16-year-old son and discarded the body in a landfill, according to a newly filed criminal complaint in Anoka County.

Collins’ family reported him missing on May 8, and authorities said at the time that there had been no activity on his phone or social media accounts since that day.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing teenager who hasn’t been seen since earlier this month in Columbia Heights.

Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, the man was pronounced dead. An adult woman was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Anoka County Jail pending formal charges.

Officers found several shell casings but initial searches of the park yielded no suspects nor victims. Shortly after, law enforcement received notice of a juvenile male with gunshot wounds who had been admitted to a nearby hospital.
