A man was fatally shot in Saint Paul on Saturday morning and police took a person of interest into custody less than an hour later, a department spokesperson said.

Saint Paul police were called just after 11:45 a.m. on August 29 to the 600 block of Park Street for multiple reports of a shooting, according to the Saint Paul Police Department. Officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound and gave first aid before Saint Paul fire medics took him to Regions Hospital, where he died.

Officers set up a perimeter and used a drone and police K-9s to search for a suspect. At 12:23 p.m., a man was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The department’s forensic services and video management units are processing the scene for evidence.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man who died and determine how he died.

It is the 14th homicide of 2026 in Saint Paul, the department said.
