A man who was found dead near railroad tracks on the East Side of Saint Paul on Monday has been identified as 44-year-old Gabriel A. Perez.
Police say that a passerby called 911 around 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25, after spotting a man laying between the railroad tracks near the 1400 block of Case Avenue.
Officers arrived on scene and found Perez, who appeared to have suffered injuries caused by an edged weapon. Saint Paul Fire Department medics pronounced him dead a short time later.

Perez, of Saint Paul, was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. His exact cause of death has not yet been released.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the incident and who is responsible. SPPD’s Forensic Services and Video Management Units processed the scene and searched the area for evidence, police said. As of publication, there was no official suspect information released.
