The 12-year-old victim was left unconscious and is now fighting for his life, according to charges filed this week in Hennepin County.

A 17-year-old and a 19-year-old have now been charged in the February 6 shooting death of a man in Minneapolis.

The shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, when an ambulance crew near Abbott Northwestern Hospital was flagged down by an occupant inside a vehicle.

Preston Casey Palmer, 34, was arrested at a park on the 2700 block of 39th Avenue South in Minneapolis, next to the school where he teaches, court documents say.

Joshua James Moton is accused of using his position of authority to initiate and carry out multiple sexual encounters with the victim, who was a student at the school where he worked.

Officers from the 3rd Precinct were dispatched around 1:50 a.m. after a 911 caller reported finding a person down in the alley near 17th Avenue South and East Lake Street. The caller also reported hearing a gunshot about 20 minutes earlier.
