The case has been submitted to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for review and potential charges. As of publication, formal charges have not yet been announced. Authorities say the investigation remains active.
Richfield Superintendent Steve Unowsky issued a statement to families Tuesday evening acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations. He confirmed that the staff member was placed on administrative leave in accordance with district policy and that law enforcement was notified right away.

Unowsky stated the district is fully cooperating with investigators and emphasized that due to state data privacy laws and the open police investigation, no additional details could be shared at this time.
“The safety, well-being, and trust of our students, staff and families are our highest priorities,” Unowsky wrote. He added that counselors and mental health staff are available for students who may need support.
Moton remained in custody as of Wednesday afternoon. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is expected to announce a charging decision following a review of the case.
