A man was shot and killed on Columbus Avenue in south Minneapolis early Monday morning, police have confirmed.
Third Precinct officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired near the 4100 block of Columbus Avenue South around 12:20 a.m. on May 25, a Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson said.
Officers arrived and found a man in the street with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers moved the man to the area of 42nd Street East & Columbus Avenue South to provide medical aid. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man died at the scene, MPD says.
The man’s name is being withheld pending family notification.

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area. Evidence of gunfire was located along the 4100 block of Columbus Avenue South and MPD forensic scientists responded to process the scene.
Homicide investigators are working to determine the full sequence of events that led to the shooting. No arrests have been made as of publication.
