A 19-year-old Faribault man was killed and two others were injured when the driver of a Chevy Suburban crossed the center line and struck a Ford Fusion head-on on Highway 3 in Dakota County on Sunday afternoon.

Adin Nathaniel Castle was a passenger in the 2014 Ford Fusion being driven northbound on Highway 3 near 225th Street in Castle Rock Township around 3:35 p.m. on May 24 when the driver of a 2008 Chevy Suburban traveling southbound crossed over the lane lines and struck the Ford in the northbound lanes, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

Castle was wearing a seat belt and was killed in the crash, the Patrol says.

The Ford’s driver, 18-year-old Arianna Grace Hess, of Farmington, was wearing a seat belt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported her to Regions Hospital in Saint Paul.

The Chevy Suburban’s driver, 36-year-old David James Miller, of Oakdale, was wearing a seat belt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was also transported to Regions Hospital, according to an incident report.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor for Hess. Whether alcohol was a factor for Miller is still pending, the State Patrol said.

Dakota County, Allina EMS, Life Link and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene. As of publication, it’s unclear if or when charges may be filed in relation to the incident.
