Just after 7 p.m., officers from the 3rd Precinct responded to the intersection, finding a Hyundai sedan and a Rivian SUV had collided. According to initial information, the impact forced the Hyundai off the road and into a tree, while the Rivian crashed into the front porch of a nearby house.
The Hyundai was occupied by two juvenile boys, MPD says. According to initial EMS radio dispatches, the 16-year-old driver reportedly lost consciousness and suffered injuries to his ribs and hip.
His 12-year-old passenger went into cardiac arrest and required resuscitation at the scene before being transported to Hennepin Healthcare. As of publication, an update on the younger boy’s condition was not yet available.
