An 18-year-old driver died Sunday night after he crashed on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis, got out of his vehicle and was struck by another driver, the Minnesota State Patrol says.
The crash happened around 9:50 p.m. on August 9 on southbound I-94 at Olson Memorial Highway, according to an incident report.
Drew Vonfisher, 18, of Eden Prairie, was driving a Ford Focus south when he struck an attenuator where the main lanes split from the exit lanes to Lyndale Avenue.

After that first crash, Vonfisher got out of the Ford and was soon struck by a Tesla Model 3, the report says. He died of his injuries.
The driver of the Tesla, a 21-year-old Champlin man, and his passenger, a 22-year-old Coon Rapids woman, were not hurt.
Road conditions were dry at the time. The State Patrol has not said what led to the first crash.
Cardinal Towing, Minneapolis Fire, Minneapolis EMS and HCMC assisted the State Patrol.
