The impact pushed the SUV roughly 40 yards and left its adult male driver trapped inside. Firefighters extricated the man from the vehicle, but he was later pronounced deceased. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
The driver of the silver sedan was taken to Regions Hospital with injuries that were described as not life-threatening. Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and investigators are pursuing a warrant to obtain a blood sample from the suspect driver.
