1 Dead After Inver Grove Heights Apartment Fire

One person died Sunday afternoon after being pulled from a burning apartment in Inver Grove Heights, fire officials said.

Around 12:05 p.m., the Inver Grove Heights and South Metro fire departments were dispatched to a structure fire at the Lake Cove Village complex near Babcock Trail and Audubon Avenue. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from one of the units and reported zero visibility inside.

Firefighters entered the building and quickly located a working fire inside one of the apartment units. During a primary search inside, they found an unresponsive male and immediately removed him from the apartment.

Emergency medical teams on scene began life-saving measures and the victim was taken by M Health Ambulance to a nearby hospital. Despite those efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.
