A man chased a woman with two knives and locked her and her mother out of a house on the 1700 block of Upper Afton Road in Saint Paul, according to the complaint.
Fua Moua, 48, faces felony charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and threats of violence in Ramsey County District Court. The original complaint, with the assault charge, was issued Aug. 6, and an amended complaint filed Oct. 13 added the threats count.
According to the complaint, Saint Paul officers responded to a 911 call on August 5, 2026, reporting that Moua had threatened the victim and her mother with a butcher knife. When officers arrived, Moua opened the door and told them the victim always steals things. The victim’s mother told officers that Moua and the victim frequently argued and that Moua had previously made statements about killing the victim.

On the day of the incident, the complaint says Moua grabbed two knives, a large butcher knife and a small kitchen knife, and chased the victim. The victim and her mother both ran out the back door of the house because they were afraid. Moua then locked all the doors, leaving them outside for some time before eventually unlocking the front door to let them back in. Afterward, Moua left the residence.
The complaint states that Moua later returned to the home, at which point the victim left because she was afraid. The victim’s mother followed her outside. When they tried to re-enter, they found themselves locked out again. Officers collected a butcher knife and a small kitchen knife from the kitchen table during their investigation.
During a post-Miranda interview, Moua told officers that he knew the victim was coming over and expected they would argue. He said that when he left through the back door, he saw the victim and her mother outside, then went back inside, left through the front door and locked it. Moua denied threatening the victim.
The complaint lists maximum penalties of seven years in prison, a $14,000 fine or both for the assault count.
