A 25-year-old Brooklyn Park man fired a BB gun at the victim during a heated argument in a living room, then threatened to hire people to harm her, prosecutors say.

The confrontation happened at about 10:50 a.m. on September 3 at a home in Brooklyn Park, according to the complaint.

Damon Andreas Constans Jr., 25, faces three felony charges: possessing a firearm or ammunition after a conviction for a crime of violence, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and threats of violence.

Officers responded after the victim reported a domestic dispute. The complaint states the argument began over the messiness of the house and escalated. During the argument, Constans threatened to hire people to harm the victim. While in the living room, Constans pointed a BB gun at the victim and fired. The first shot missed, but as the victim approached him, Constans continued to fire and struck her in the face.

The complaint states the victim was armed with a butcher knife as she walked toward Constans and stabbed him in the leg. Officers arriving at the scene found the BB gun on the couch, along with a small handgun and multiple boxes of ammunition in the living room.

Constans is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to a prior felony domestic assault conviction in Olmstead County in December 2024, according to court records. The charges were filed Friday, September 4 in Hennepin County District Court.
