Dumas Man Charged After Late-Night Break-In on Highway 47

A 35-year-old Dumas man broke down the front door of a Mille Lacs County home after midnight, entered the foyer and threatened to kill the man inside while screaming, according to the complaint.

The incident happened early Sunday, September 6, 2026, at a residence on MN Highway 47 in Isle. Law enforcement responded after the victim called 911 to report someone banging on the door and yelling.

Jonathan Michael Mosley, 35, faces five charges: first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, second-degree burglary, threats of violence, fifth-degree assault and trespassing.

According to court records, a deputy and an Isle police officer arrived to find Mosley sitting on the front steps. Mosley told the officer that the victim had flown him up from Arkansas for work. The victim then came to the door and reported that Mosley had kicked it in. Officers observed a broken door frame and detained Mosley for questioning. Mosley admitted, “I ain’t gonna lie to you, you can take me to jail if you want to, I tapped on it,” but insisted he had only tapped the door.

The victim told officers that he and another adult female had allowed Mosley to stay at the house for several days, but had recently kicked him out with help from the sheriff’s office due to his constant drinking. On the night of the incident, the victim and the woman heard Mosley banging on the door and screaming. After they called 911, Mosley broke down the door and entered the foyer, where the victim saw him inside the residence.

The complaint states that Mosley began screaming, “I’m going to kill you n*****.” The victim reported that after making the threat, Mosley saw a vehicle pull up outside and left the house. The woman retreated into a bedroom and retrieved a firearm for protection, but put it down when officers arrived.

Mosley was arrested at the scene and transported to the Mille Lacs County Jail. The complaint notes that Mosley has been previously charged in Arkansas with breaking and entering, assault, interference with custody and delivery of meth or cocaine. The State is still determining whether any of those charges resulted in convictions.

The charges were filed Tuesday, September 8.

First-degree assault, alleging great bodily harm, carries up to 20 years in prison. The lower degrees range from misdemeanor up to 10-year felony exposure depending on weapon use and harm.
