Two men used stolen credit cards at stores in Bloomington and Edina after following residents into an apartment building and taking a wallet from a parked vehicle, according to charges.
Mohammed Omar Abdallah, 34, of Bloomington, and Abdirahman Mahamed Hassan, 34, of Hopkins, each face charges of third-degree burglary and aiding and abetting financial transaction card fraud. Both complaints were filed August 31 in Hennepin County District Court.
According to the complaints, Bloomington police began investigating on August 7, 2026, after the victim reported his wallet had been stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his apartment building. The wallet contained four credit cards. The victim told officers he did not authorize anyone to use them.
Investigators learned that on August 1, one of the cards was used to complete a $106 transaction at a Target in Bloomington, and another was used for a $512 transaction at a Target in Edina. Officers obtained surveillance footage from the Bloomington store showing two men attempting several transactions. Police identified them as Abdallah and Hassan based on prior video-recorded interactions.
The footage and transaction records showed Abdallah completed a $106 purchase with one of the victim’s cards, then tried another $106 transaction that was declined. The two men spoke briefly and exchanged items before Hassan attempted a $206 transaction with another of the victim’s cards, which was also declined. In total they attempted or completed three uses of the cards at the Bloomington store, worth a combined $424.
At the Edina store, footage and transaction history showed Abdallah completed a $512 transaction, then attempted another for $412, which was declined. Hassan completed a $5.98 purchase and then attempted a $212 transaction, which was also declined. The two attempted or completed four uses of the cards there, totaling $1,141.98.
Additional footage from the victim’s apartment building showed the pair following residents to get through the main door on several dates, then moving through the underground garage, pulling on vehicle doors and entering vehicles belonging to others.
Minneapolis police later arrested both men. At the time of his arrest, Abdallah was wearing clothing matching what appeared in the surveillance footage. In post-Miranda statements, both men admitted entering vehicles at the apartment building, stealing credit cards and using them to make purchases.
Court dates for Abdallah and Hassan have not yet been set.
