A Saint Paul man threatened staff and patrons with a knife at a Woodbury event center on a Saturday evening, according to charges.

Anthony Graham Clark, 39, faces charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and fifth-degree assault, court records show.

According to the complaint, officers were dispatched to Main Events in Woodbury at about 6:02 p.m. on August 22, 2026, after a report that a man was threatening people with a knife. While officers were en route, dispatch provided a description of the individual, later identified as Clark.

When officers arrived, they saw Clark extending his arm and yelling aggressively at security personnel. Officers exited their squad cars and secured the scene, detaining Clark. Officers noted that Clark had slurred speech and an odor of alcohol on his breath.

During a pat search, officers found a black folding knife on Clark. Witnesses told officers that Clark had approached patrons and a manager, flinching at them in a way that made them fear he was going to harm them. One security staff member reported that Clark threatened him with the knife and said he was going to kill him.

Clark was interviewed by officers and claimed that management and security were provoking a fight and that their actions were unwarranted.

The charges were filed August 24 in Washington County District Court. A court date has not yet been set.

About This Charge

Minnesota classifies assault by degree under § 609.221 (first), § 609.222 (second), § 609.223 (third), § 609.2231 (fourth) and § 609.224 (fifth). First-degree assault, alleging great bodily harm, carries up to 20 years in prison. The lower degrees range from gross-misdemeanor up to 10-year felony exposure depending on weapon use and harm.
