A Minneapolis woman confronted a former partner and was shot at by another person late Saturday night as she walked her dog in the city, according to charges.

Kalyne Jozell Patton, 22, faces a charge of aiding and abetting second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to the 300 block of Oak Grove Street in Hennepin County at about 11:54 p.m. on August 23 after receiving a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim and several witnesses at the scene.

The victim told police she was walking her dog when she was confronted by Kalyne Jozell Patton and another person, identified in the complaint as a co-defendant. The victim reported that she previously dated Patton and had prior interactions with the co-defendant, who had threatened her in the past.

The victim stated that the co-defendant shot a gun at her and then fled the area with Patton. Multiple witnesses confirmed seeing the co-defendant shoot at the victim and leave the area in a vehicle with Patton. One witness recorded the incident on his phone, according to court documents.

Patton is charged with aiding and abetting second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, which alleges that she assisted or facilitated the co-defendant in the assault involving a firearm. The charge was filed Tuesday, August 25 in Hennepin County District Court.
