A Minneapolis man fired multiple gunshots at another man on a city sidewalk in the early morning hours, then fled the scene carrying a bag, according to charges.

Donald Edward Bradley Jr., 46, faces five felony counts: attempted murder in the first-degree, attempted murder in the second-degree, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition after a conviction for a crime of violence.

According to the criminal complaint, Minneapolis police responded just before 2 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, to a reported shooting near 12th Avenue in Minneapolis. Officers found the victim, an adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and recovered four discharged cartridge casings in the street.

Investigators canvassed the area and obtained surveillance video that captured the shooting and the shooter’s movements before and after the attack. The footage showed the shooter approaching the victim while carrying a bag, then walking to the middle of 12th Avenue, raising an arm and firing at least three shots at the victim, who was standing on the sidewalk east of 12th Avenue.

The video showed the victim running north, away from the gunfire, as the shooter fled westbound through an alley toward 11th Avenue, still carrying the bag. The shooter was also seen wearing a black medical shoe on his left foot.

Police tracked the suspect on surveillance video to an apartment building about four blocks from the shooting. Video from inside the building showed the shooter entering about 10 minutes after the shooting and handing the bag to a person who rented an apartment there. About two weeks later, officers executed a search warrant at that apartment. While they did not recover a firearm, they found a grocery sack matching the one seen in the video, a gun trigger lock and a round of rifle ammunition.

A witness familiar with Donald Edward Bradley Jr. reviewed still images from the surveillance footage and positively identified him as the shooter, according to the complaint.

Court records show Bradley has prior felony convictions for second-degree assault with a firearm in 2003 and terroristic threats in 2015. Because of these convictions, he is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Due to public safety concerns, prosecutors are seeking a warrant for his arrest. The charges were filed Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in Hennepin County District Court. A court date has not yet been set.
