An Eden Prairie man allegedly beat a woman with his hands and various objects inside a residence, causing serious injuries and telling her, “I am going to kill you,” according to charges.
Maxwell Ryan Frederick, 27, faces charges of attempted murder in the second-degree and third-degree assault resulting in substantial bodily harm.
According to the complaint, officers responded to the 7100 block of Green Ridge Drive in Eden Prairie at about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, after an open-line 911 call suggested an assault was in progress. When officers arrived, they found Frederick on top of the victim inside the residence. Officers saw injuries to the victim’s face and head, as well as blood on the floor and nearby items, including a fan and a box.

Police arrested Frederick at the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital, where medical records showed she suffered a brain hemorrhage, a fractured orbital bone and a fractured left hand.
During an interview with police, the victim reported waking up to Frederick beating her with his hands and various objects. She told officers Frederick said, “I am going to kill you,” or words to that effect, and that she believed she would have been killed if police had not intervened. The victim also stated that Frederick suffers from mental health concerns and needs help.
In a post-Miranda statement, Frederick admitted to repeatedly hitting the victim and said he intended to kill her because he was experiencing a mental health episode.
The charges were filed this week in Hennepin County District Court and Frederick remained in custody at the Hennepin County Jail as of publication.
