The victim told officers he and a woman had arranged to meet an individual for a private sale, as he resells brand name watches. The victim said they met with a man, later identified as Kayden Koom Siab Yang, who had gone to school with the woman. During the sale, Yang put one of the watches on his wrist, then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the woman. The victim described the gun as a Glock with a silver slide and black lower half.

The victim said he fought with Yang over the gun and managed to get it away from him. Yang then pulled out a second, all-black handgun and pointed it at the victim, who dropped the first gun. Yang tackled the victim and struck him in the back of the head with the pistol. After hitting the victim, Yang grabbed both guns and a watch before fleeing.

The woman told officers she recognized Yang from a party, where she had previously rejected his advances. She provided his name to police. On July 9, 2026, she identified Yang with 100 percent certainty in a lineup.

The victims reported that two watches valued at $1,200, an iPhone Pro Max 14 and an iPhone 13 were stolen during the robbery.

A court date has not yet been set.
