A Minneapolis man demanded money from another man at gunpoint and shot him in the arm before fleeing toward an alley in north Minneapolis, according to newly filed charges.
Lavonne Hakim Gamble faces charges of attempted aggravated robbery in the 1st degree and possessing a firearm after a conviction for a crime of violence. The charges were filed Wednesday, July 29, in Hennepin County District Court.
According to the complaint, officers responded to a hospital in the early morning hours of June 27 after a shooting victim arrived for treatment. The victim told officers that he and a friend had picked up Gamble. As they approached 45th Avenue North and Lyndale Avenue North in Minneapolis, Gamble exited the vehicle.

Surveillance video captured Gamble demanding, “Give me all of it… Empty your pockets,” before shooting the victim in the arm with a Glock 22. Gamble then ran away toward a nearby alley. The victim and a witness, who was driving, both attended the same school, according to court records.
The witness drove the victim to the hospital following the shooting. Officers later located and apprehended Gamble near 45th Avenue North and Lyndale Avenue North on July 27.
Gamble is charged with attempted aggravated robbery in the 1st degree for trying to rob the victim at gunpoint and with possessing a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence. The complaint notes that Gamble has prior convictions for aggravated robbery in the 1st and 2nd degrees, with conviction dates in March and April 2025 and April 2026.
A court date has not yet been set.
