One man died and two other people were wounded in an early-morning shooting in Saint Paul’s Frogtown neighborhood, with homicide investigators now working to determine what led to it.
Saint Paul police were called shortly before 4:30 a.m. today to the area of Edmund Avenue West and North Kent Street for reports of an assault and shots fired, according to a SPPD spokesperson.
Officers arrived to an active scene with a large crowd present and found a man in the street with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Officers began lifesaving measures and the victim was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died a short time later.

As officers canvassed the area, they found a house on the 500 block of North Kent Street that had been struck by gunfire. During the search they learned two more people, an adult male and an adult female, had already been taken to Regions Hospital with gunshot wounds that were reportedly not life-threatening.
Homicide investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting and no arrests have been made as of publication. The victim has not yet been identified.
It’s the eighth homicide of 2026 in Saint Paul, according to SPPD.
