A man has been charged after he allegedly chased his girlfriend’s teenage son with a steak knife during a fight at their Lino Lakes home, telling the boy “you’re dead” as the teen locked himself in a bedroom and called 911.

Rayvan Lamont Hart, 39, faces charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, terroristic threats and misdemeanor domestic assault. He was arrested March 29 and released two days later.

According to the complaint, Lino Lakes officers were dispatched to the residence Sunday after the juvenile called 911 to report his mother’s boyfriend was trying to stab him with a knife. Dispatchers could hear a man and a woman yelling in the background and the man threatening to kill someone.

The confrontation started after the boy told his mother he did not like Hart because Hart threatens her and puts his hands on her. Hart came downstairs and approached the boy, saying “we can do this s*** right now” and “I am going to f*** you up.” Hart acted as though he was going to punch the teen, and the two began exchanging blows.

The boy crashed into a coffee table and the fight continued on the ground. During the struggle, Hart yelled “you’re dead” multiple times. He then got up, went into the kitchen and grabbed a large steak knife. He chased the boy with the knife in hand. The teen ran into his mother’s bedroom, locked the door and called 911.

Officers stopped Hart and his girlfriend in a blue SUV after they fled the residence. Hart told officers the boy had attacked him and that the boy had pulled a knife. When officers confronted him about screaming that the boy was dead, Hart responded, “I know.”

The boy’s brother, who was also in the home during the incident, confirmed the fight and that Hart grabbed a large knife and chased his brother.

Hart faces up to seven years in prison on the second-degree assault charge. His next hearing is set for April 20.
