Suspect in Custody After Fatal Shooting in South Minneapolis
A man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis, and police have arrested a suspect they believe is responsible.
Officers from the Fifth Precinct responded at 1:06 p.m. to a report of a shooting on the 3000 block of Grand Avenue South.

They found a man in his 40s outside with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers began providing medical aid until they were relieved by Minneapolis firefighters and paramedics, but the man died at the scene.
According to initial information, the man had been standing outside when a vehicle pulled up. A person got out of the vehicle, fired multiple shots, then got back in and left the area.
Minneapolis police later arrested a man in his 20s around 4:20 p.m. on the 4700 block of Cedar Avenue South. He was reportedly armed at the time of his arrest and was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of murder.

“This shooting in broad daylight is a level of brazen violence that we cannot tolerate,” said Chief Brian O’Hara. “I am grateful for the outstanding work of our incredibly dedicated Minneapolis police officers that resulted in an arrest. Our homicide investigators are still working diligently to piece together all that occurred, and we are still asking anyone with information about this tragedy to come forward.”
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death at a later time.
