Man Seriously Injured After Car Falls on Him Near Parkers Prairie

A man was seriously injured early Saturday morning when a car he was working under fell on him.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at 1:08 a.m. Oct. 18 to 21970 County Highway 73 in Hewitt.

Responders found the man pinned beneath a demolition derby car inside a garage. Authorities said 25-year-old Elijah Hensel, of Park Rapids, had been working on the vehicle when it slipped off the jack and landed on his head.

Friends at the scene lifted the car off of Hensel before first responders arrived. He was found with what appeared to be a serious head injury.

Bertha Rescue, Astera Ambulance, and Parkers Prairie Police assisted at the scene. Hensel was airlifted by Life Link helicopter to a St. Cloud hospital for treatment. His condition was not available as of publication.
