One of the victims injured in a mass shooting in Minneapolis has died, police confirmed Saturday.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said Adam John Peterson, 46, died at the hospital on Sept. 20 following the shooting that occurred last Monday.
Officers were called around 11:10 a.m. on Sept. 15 to multiple reports of gunfire near East Lake Street and Stevens Avenue South. Five men, all adults, were found with injuries. One man suffering life-threatening wounds was discovered on the walkway leading to the Midtown Greenway.
Two men with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds were located inside the transit center and another man with similar injuries was found near Lake Street and Stevens Avenue. A fifth man with minor injuries was found near Lake Street and 1st Avenue and was evaluated by EMS at the scene but not transported.
The man with life-threatening injuries and one of the men with non-life-threatening injuries were taken to Hennepin Healthcare. The other two with non-life-threatening wounds were brought to North Memorial.
Investigators say initial information shows shots were fired near the Greenway and again along the walkway near the highway offramp leading to Lake Street and Stevens Avenue. Police have not announced any arrests in the case.
The shooting remains under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Minneapolis Police.
